The RightStart Websites Story: How We Came To Be…And Why It Matters to You

Some of you may be wondering, where did RightStart Websites come from? And a few more of you may be thinking, hey, I thought this company was SonicSpider? So let us explain…

First of all, RightStart Websites is indeed part of SonicSpider. SonicSpider started out as a custom HTML website design, marketing, and hosting company for small business. In 2007, the economy [ahem] tanked, and small business budgets shrank (ours, too). Also during this time, the rise in the popularity of using WordPress websites exploded. We saw a need to shift direction and find a way to bring costs down for the customer. RightStart Websites became an offshoot of SonicSpider to address three problems.

  1. With the predominance of WordPress usage and its user friendly interface, came the real possibility of people creating their own websites… as long as they could get some help and support.

  1. Many people still wanted a web developer to do it for them, but the “shrinking budget” difficulty mentioned above, made this a problem. So we had to find a more cost-effective way to provide this service.

  2. And then there were folks who already had a website, and maybe their neighbor’s cousin’s son helped them get it up. But now they were having problems with their website, because, even though it looked okay, the backend was not built correctly, or the neighbor’s cousin’s son had left town. Either way, when they went to make changes or upgrades, it wasn’t behaving itself anymore, they couldn’t do what they wanted to do, and it turned out to be rather expensive to have a professional fix it. End result: (very) unhappy website owner.

So thus was born RightStart Websites, to solve those three problems. Here’s how we did it.

  1. RightStart Websites has a wealth of free resources for the do-it-yourself-er covering a wide range of needs – WordPress, marketing, social media, SEO, and ecommerce – including ebooks, tutorials, and blog articles. We also offer personalized on-line training sessions, which although not free, get you up to speed more quickly.

  1. RightStart offers a range of web packages for websites, enhancements, and services, which can be purchased easily online, with all the features of each one clearly outlined for you. You can pick the package that fits your needs and pocketbook. Of course, if you have questions about which package would work best for you, we’d be happy to talk it over with you.

Now, here’s the cost-effective part: the Dev Center.

    1. A unique way that allows us to keep our costs, and therefore yours, low, is our online Development and Resource Center, or as we like to call it, the Dev Center. It is a custom project management system.

    2. Once you have purchased a package or consulting time, all work that is done in relation to your project is documented in the Dev Center. You will be given your own unique login, and after that, all you have to do to see what is happening with your project is log into the Dev Center – which we recommend you do on a daily basis for best results.

    3. By the same token, if we need any information or materials from you, we will make that request through the Dev Center. You can also enter questions and have project-related discussions. No more telephone tag or lost emails!

  1. If you are one of the folks who now has a website nightmare on your hands, we’re sorry and wish you had come to us first! The aim of RightStart Websites is to to prevent problems and get people off to the right start with their websites so you will never have that situation. But, all is not lost. You’ve come to the right place for fixing your web technology bad dreams. We can fix just about anything, and although we can’t guarantee that it will be cheap, we can guarantee that it will be more reasonable (see Dev Center description above) and that our web pros have the experience and expertise so that you can sleep well again at night.

So help us get the word out! Share our story – reshare, retweet, plus one, like us, or just tell a friend. We are particularly active on Google+ so look for us there. When you do, let us know and we’ll send you a coupon for 20% off any of our services, good any time, no expiration date, period.

PS – The cute pooch whose photo adorns this article, is Lulu, the French bulldog and our company mascot. She is owned by our Artistic Director, Melanie Moore Bermudez, (or maybe vice versa), and you may see her around in other posts because we have found that she has a knack for getting a point across 🙂
